My Stats - 99 Magic

For those who are wondering... Here is the type of player you're reading from. Not a hardcore player but I do have some highlights - 99 Magic, 97 Fishing, solid combat skills. I started playing years ago, maybe in 2004 or 2005 but didn't seriously start playing / switch to members until around 2007.

I will be writing a guide later on how I achieved 99 magic with minimal effort. Honestly, if I could go back and change things, I would have stopped at 98 magic and let myself naturally level to 99 from spellcasting. Expect it in December.

Easy way to train Magic

Want a higher mage level, but hate training on monsters? If you have a high level friend that plays too, bring him to the duel arena. Then train your spells on him while he stands there and watches you. It will hardly do any damage to him, and dueling is safe so dying is not problematic.  This allows your character to seamlessly train up mage. It might work for range, but melee combat skills require damage to give xp. So, if you want to level up in mage quickly (especially from lower levels) grab a high level player and head to the dueling arena! So far the staff girl in the picture has gotten 17 mage starting from lvl 1 mage about 20 minutes ago.

280,000 gp – Effort-free. How to truly make those millions…

Look for yourself at my recent purchase and sell for raw lobsters. I bought 20,000 raw lobsters at G.E. medium price (around 275) and put them in a sell offer at max price. Come back a couple days later and they are all sold. 280k free! Now I am going to do the same with 75k worth of raw lobsters. I will post results!

Is Vial Running: Profitable?

This idea was introduced to me not to long ago:
Buy vials of water from Shilo general store at 11gp each, sell on G.E. for around 85gp each. They sell on the G.E. almost instantly and it is pure profit.
But is this really worth it? It requires constant attention (you must have your character run back and forth, over and over…and over and over). In about 10 minutes i accumulated around 500 vials of water and sold for about 40k over the G.E., with 5.5k of expenses. Every time you bank 27 vials of water you gain about 2k through selling them at the G.E. (it is roughly 2,349 gp – 297 gp cost of vials = 2,052 gp gain every run)
Sure, it sounds like fast money, but that is all it is. Running around for some extra cash. I have to say this is not how I like to get money. Fishing in the fishing guild or cutting yews is much more rewarding. Close banks, level gains, and high prices on lobs / yews make them better than vial running. A full inventory of lobsters takes me around 5 minutes, give or take a few extra minutes. Right now the market price on raw lobsters is 272 gp, meaning every load is worth 7,344 gp. Sure, it is slower, but it takes a hell of a lot less effort to have your character sit there and fish rather than run back and forth between the store and bank.
If you do have the patience to vial run, then enjoy your profits. There are easier ways to make money though.

How to get rich on RuneScape

The internet is flooded with sites boasting get rich quick Runescape guides or even real world trading Runescape items. It should be known that these sites are not worth your time. The get-rich quick runescape guides simply share a few outdated strategies on ways to make money (they use time calculations to show off big digits that appeal to the reader) by saying you can collect feathers for an hour to make a certain amount of gp, then if you did that over the course of a week you’d have 7x the original amount and become a millionaire quickly. Well all that is pointless. Feathers are purchasable in infinite stock, so do not waste time collecting feathers.

There are many ways to get rich on RuneScape. Some people merchant, some people kill high level monsters, some people sell items obtained from skill training. I have found that one of the easiest ways of getting rich is simply training a skill. It is time consuming, but here are some easy ways to level and make the most of your time. Here is the process:

1. Choose a skill that is relatively easy to train (woodcutting or fishing or even combat skills)
2. Find something to do that can be easily done while also playing RuneScape. Here are some things you can do:

• Watch a movie. You can resize the Runescape window so that you can watch your movie but see your player at the same time.
• Watch free HD episodes from the ABC network. I like to watch Lost. (www.abc.com)
• Learn about Runescape. Open another browser window and read the RuneScape blog or explore the Knowledge Base.
• Use the Grand Exchange database to find data charts on the items you are fishing/woodcutting/receiving. This can help you find out when the best time to sell will be.

3. Do it! Start up Runescape and get busy! Now that harmful randoms are gone, you do not need to worry about breaking your woodcutting axe or losing your lobster pot!

4. Once you fill up, hit the bank and set your character back to work!

5. Before you know it you will stack up on items you are “powering.”

Deposit All Functions

It’s about time RuneScape integrated some of the most requested updates to the banking system, but it is far from perfect. You can only use 8 custom tabs for your 496 different items you have (there are way more than that in RuneScape. Too bad.) There is no “withdraw all” for a tab which would be helpful for withdrawing combat armor, etc.

But… they did add a “deposit all” feature for Inventory, player clothes, and summoning beast of burden. This is a big help as you can dump everything in your bank with just one click (something the quick deposit booth should have done from the start). Unfortunately, if you are using an item to train a skill that you cannot wield, you won’t be able to use this feature… unless you don’t mind withdrawing it after depositing it over and over. Deposit All would be much nicer if we could specify certain items we did not want to be deposited within our inventory.

Summoning

RuneScape’s newest skill: possibly one of the easiest. Just like Construction, summoning requires quite some cash. Shards cost 25 per and some summoning monsters can take quite a few shards to make one pouch. The benefits of Summoning are not amazing. At least not at a low level. I just gained 5 summoning levels running back and forth between Falador and Taverly. Now I can have a beaver eat wood for me while I cut yews. All he can make are planks, even though the examine says his special can cut three logs at once (or three trees at once?) either way, the Yews don’t last long enough for this to happen.

Is there money to be made? Maybe at the higher levels. Low level summoning doesn’t have too great of rewards for players. Unless you actually use all your pouches / spells, you’re going to be losing money.

Grand Exchange: How to make a profit on RuneScape

The Grand Exchange is your friend. Think of it as a RuneScape stock market that IS failsafe, relatively speaking. There will never be any market crashes, however price fluctuations can vary greatly depending on certain updates, new minigames, or whatever the case may be. After the release of PVP worlds, for instance, food prices and weapons and armor skyrocketed. I sold my full dharoks set at a price 1m over what I paid for it. However, usually these updates are announced beforehand, so you have some insider trading knowledge as to whether you want to compete or not.

Just recently I started investing in lobsters. They’d sell at night at the market price: 220 / lobster, but then during the day the demand would be much higher and I’d be able to sell them fast at a price of 225 (lowest I go), which is only 5gp more per lobster, but when you sell them in bulk amounts ( i usually buy around 60k of lobsters to sell) 60k x 5 = 300k. Now , this is a fairly small profit for such a big investment (60k lobsters at 220 per is 13,200,000 gp.) Obviously this is a risky investment, so it is important to watch the RuneScape news and make sure if you do invest in something that it won’t go belly up.

As a general rule make sure the item isn’t too costly. The more it costs, the more investment you are making in for the less profit. Something cheap that is widely used is your best bet. Good luck.
